Discography
Maurice began his journey making music in his senior year of high school. God had given him the gift to rap a year prior, but it took some time to get steam in the engine. The idea of him being a rapper made him feel widely more insecure that he already was. Not to mention, his lyrics being so exclusively focused on God early on was not well-received by many of friends and musical colleagues, discouraging him from embracing it. Conflict arose immediately, having to move back and forth between audio engineers, church, relationship and financial struggles and the tough transition from high school graduate to broke college student, Maurice’s music career was put on hold for a while. In the Spring of 2020, he began his first full-time semester at University of Colorado Denver, where he meet his good friend and audio engineer, Alex Hazel (Somberset), who he still works with on all of his music to this day. In March 2020, COVID-19 took the globe by storm, leading Maurice to the life-changing decision to drop out of school, work full-time and begin the pursuit of his dreams in music full-time. The remainder of 2020 was spent hustling hard on the remaster of his debut album, Heavens Warrior, set the launch the following year, 2021.
In July 2021, his debut album, Heavens Warrior was released under independent label Maurice Movement Records. Maurices freshman record is a gospel record that covers the majority of his early life, from early childhood up until the age of 15, the age where he began his relationship, intimacy and commitment to God. Heavens Warrior also covers the varying trials and tribulations that came with accepting God so early in life. Tracks such as Where’d You Go? Fearless and We Need To Talk discuss Maurice witnessing and losing many of his friendships to gang life, toxic romantic partners and drug and alcohol addiction. Emotionally raw takes on how fear consumes your life and uncomfortable one on one talks with God about the very real challenges we all face in life, especially a life of faith. Brothers in Arms (First Blood), Go To War (Battle Cry) and Called To Higher Places are the aggressive, violent, hype, underground fight tracks that simultaneously push forward the message of standing for Christ, Loving God and Loving People! While it’s undeniable that Maurice has only gotten better with time, Heavens Warrior still proves itself as a strong introduction to Maurice’s discography.
The following year, July 2022, he released his sophomore album RED DAWN [#retaliation2022]. Primarily produced by San Diego based producer, Ryini Beats, this record was a graduation into a new phase of music. Paying tribute to Maurice’s favorite fusion/sub-genre, rap metal. Loosely based on the 1984 film, Red Dawn, RED DAWN [#retaliation2022] the theme of the album is about being a light in the mist of the darkness. We are all living through some very difficult times for various and undeniable reasons. RED DAWN embraces a dark, post-apocalyptic tone putting todays challenges at the forefront but the message still stands strong at the cross. “In the midst of RED DAWN, we are the light in the midst of the darkness, we bring the love of Jesus Christ, no matter what”. Cuz if retaliation comes, yo then fuck it, it just comes.
On Christmas Day, 2022, a third album was released under the title, The Chronicles of Cinema: Book I - War Symphony. The primary theme of Chronicles are based around several characters and universes within pop culture. These tracks include, but are not limited to, transcendent rhymes about franchises such as Call of Duty, The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Lion King and an infamous rap battle between Daredevil and The Punisher from Marvel Comics. This marks another transitional period in Maurice music. Proving to all that listen and enjoy that even the biggest nerds can still be some of the dopest emcees. Projects like these are made to encourage and empower people to be themselves. Providing a tribe, a home, to those who haven’t been properly accepted.
The following summer 2023, Maurice dropped his fourth album, Kingdom Come. Kingdom Come is the tribute to the type of hip hop that Maurice adores the most, 90s hip hop and underground rap. Primarily produced by New York based producer, Mixla, the album is a true testament to the sonic originality that made “The Golden Era” of hip hop legendary and the unique lyrical and thematic execution that made it timeless. Digging back into the raw emotion and vulnerability that made Maurice the incredible artist that he is, Kingdom Come truly is, the Kingdom Come.
Christmas Day, 2023, Maurice’s fifth album was released under the title, The Chronicles of Cinema: Book II - War Saga. Much like the first entry of Chronicles, this sequel is based around characters and universes in pop culture. However, War Saga is bigger and better in every way! Not only does this record clock in at a whopping forty tracks, it opens the door for Maurice to discuss the deeper themes often overshadowed in pop culture stories. The hard-hitting rap metal track, Set Me Free, based on Max Payne 3, is a deep dive into breaking free from drug, alcohol, sex and porn addiction. It’s Gotta Be Me, My Identity and From The Ashes are spiritual awakenings, encouraging all listeners to answer their calling and walk in their destiny. Redemption and Left Side, Strong Side bring listeners on the path towards living life to the fullest and fighting for what you love with who you love. Every genre Maurice is known and loved for including hip hop, hard rock, heavy metal and gospel all make a triumphant return. There’s even some experimentation with singing, country and R&B. Diss tracks continue with exhilarating rap battles between BLOODSPORT VS. PEACEMAKER, Rick Grimes vs. Leon Kennedy, Invincible vs. Omni-Man and Dracula vs. Blade.
Sticking with his annual holiday releases, Christmas Day, 2024, Maurice’s sixth album, The Chronicles of Cinema: Book III - War Trilogy. Primarily produced by German producer, DIDKER and returning instrumentals from Mixla, FIFTY VINC, Shuka4beats, Gravy Beats, GoodJohnProductions and Ryini Beats, War Trilogy sonically encompasses the chaos and conclusiveness of a great finale. The most distinguishing factor this project has over its predecessors is its embrace of historical fiction, as opposed to just contemporary pop culture. Maurice describes this third and final in this trilogy of records as a “hip-hop history book”. Retelling real events throughout both U.S. and World History through hip hip including The Bible, Shakespeare, Norse and Greek mythology, The Wild West, World War II, The Vietnam War, The Civil Rights Movement and The Global War On Terror. Raps based around fictional universes include films such as Gladiator The Lord of The Rings, The Mask of Zorro, Tombstone, The Last Samurai, The Creed Trilogy, Patriots Day, Hacksaw Ridge, Full Metal Jacket, Black Hawk Down, Zero Dark Thirty, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and Top Gun: Maverick. Diss tracks close out this trilogy with grace with rap battles between IP Man vs. Shang-Chi, Malcolm X vs. Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali Vs. Adonis Creed, Captain Price vs. Captain America and Lucifer vs. Jesus Christ.
